In 1995, Ronald E. Banning Jr. started a lawn care business called Green Maintenance in Bear, Delaware. Working out of his parents garage he serviced clients throughout New Castle County Delaware while attending school. During the next few years business grew and the services offered developed from primarily lawn care based services to hardscape construction based services specializing in patios, walkways, and walls.
During this time the residential landscape market was changing. Traditional projects such as pressure treated wood decks and railroad tie retaining walls were being passed over for a new a new generation of products made of concrete. Decks were being replaced with patios constructed with Interlocking Concrete Pavers (ICP), while Segmental Retaining Wall (SRW) units made of concrete provided a perfect replacement for old wood tie retaining walls. While already offering flagstone, brick, and natural stone options to his clients, Ron saw the changes in the market and developed an intense interest in the construction of hardscape projects utilizing Interlocking Concrete Pavers and Segmental Retaining Walls.

Ron decided to take his interest full circle and, in 2001, Green Maintenance became a full service hardscape installation company. One year later the company was renamed Banning Hardscapes. Since 1995, Ron and his company have serviced hundreds of clients and installed projects throughout Delaware from Claymont to Rehoboth Beach. Now going into its 18th year in business, Banning Hardscapes looks forward to continuing to bring the highest level of service and professionalism to each and every project.
